SWAP Literature
Eira
Kitchen, the Co-ordinator of SWAP, has produced three booklets to help
ladies suffering through alcohol misuse. Eira is married with two children
and three grandchildren; she is a retired teacher and a recovering alcoholic.

“I
had a teaching career which spanned 22 years and a drinking career to
match it!”
“My
life has consisted of many years of alcoholism and many experiences of
relapse – each one more soul-destroying than the last ...”
“Alcohol
deceives you into believing that you have no choices left, into believing
you’ve GOT to drink. THAT IS A LIE! You can SWAP your lifestyle with help
and support.”

“One
important lesson to learn in recovery is ‘Don’t go it alone’ – the recluse
will not survive relapse. The ‘I can do it alone’ attitude has to be forfeited
to regain sobriety – get support!”
‘You’ve
relapsed, not collapsed! Pick yourself up and learn from the experience.”
“There
is no defeat except in no longer trying.” (Elbert Hubbard)
